Richard Bloom Productions is releasing Defending Holocaust History which focuses in with razor sharpness on the 1941 onset of actual genocide in Eastern Europe, particularly Lithuania and Latvia, and which is now the subject of a massive state campaign to rewrite history to confuse the issues.This new documentary became necessary as over the past five years, there has been an insidious worldwide campaign by the Lithuanian Government to rewrite the history of the Holocaust, specifically as it pertains to events in that country by glorifying Lithuanian Nazi collaborators as heroes, vilifying the victims, and attempting to delegitimize the Holocaust as a unique historical event by comparing it to the crimes of Stalin, all in an attempt to sanitize the role of thousands of its citizens and avoiding accountability.
Through the use of archival footage, Dr. Dovid Katz, Yiddish Scholar and Editor of Defending History.com, Dr. Efraim Zuroff, Director of the Simon Wiesenthal’s Jerusalem Office, Aryeh Rubin, founder of Operation Last Chance and Holocaust Survivors confront both the Lithuanian government’s attempts to rewrite Holocaust History and the Latvian government’s glorification of the role of its citizens in the Waffen SS.
The film as well as our other 5 Shoah documentaries have been seen around the world and have been selected by and are available for viewing at the Yad Vashem Visual Center in Jerusalem and at the USHMM in Washington, DC.
